The Free Expression Project
Check out the cuban salsa blog for the full line up of free workshops:
http://www.thecubansalsablog.com
The Free Expression Project was formed in August of '09 to promote creative and expressive dance within the Triangle.
Ultimately, we believe that creativity is a birthright. So we offer free dance workshops and we make them accessible to anyone interested in learning.
If you are a musician, dancer or instructor and you want to join The Free Expression Project we ask only that:
1. Your class is free and helps dancers to better express themselves.
If you are a student and you enjoyed your class, we ask that you fuel the fire by spreading the word to friends about The Free Expression Project and the instructor who taught your class.
Free Workshops
August
Sunday, August 2nd - Afro Cuban: Rumba Fundamentals pt. 2
Paso Salsa Studios
7:30pm - 8:30pm
Rumba Basics II is all about dialog-based movement. For some of you, this will result in a complete change in the way you look at personal expression.
We'll teach you two simple questions to initiate a body dialog and come up with all sorts of interesting ways to move around.
If you missed last workshop but are a quick learner, feel free to jump in.
September
Sunday, TBA - Argentine Tango workshop
Tango workshop will possibly be followed up by a Milonga that same day! Stay tuned via our blog.
Sunday September 27th - Cuban Orisha dance feat. live drumming with Tambor Vivo
Paso Salsa Studios
7:30pm - 8:30pm
The body movements and Bata drumming of the Cuban Orishas will give your rhythm and body a great workout!
No matter what style you dance, training in this rigorous form will do wonders to improve your sensitivity to music, rhythm and body movement.
We will be covering Ellegua for the men, and Yemaya for the ladies.
